Strongman Session

Got together again with the boys from sweating-blood. Today was a strongman session. I've been thinking now for some time about holding a CrossFit Strongman Comp and we thought we'd try out some of the events today.

There were 5 events;
#1 Tyre Flip Max reps in 2 mins
#2 Slosh Pipe Hold for time
#3 Sled Drag150kg - 30m for time
#4 Keg Stair Climb with Keg filled with water up flight of steps for time (weight was about 60kgs)
#5 Farmers Walks 2 x 40kg Kettlebells for time around a figure 8 course

Tyre flip was good. Especially after Joe and I acquired a really big tyre and spent a bit of time cleaning it up.

Slosh pipe was really hard. My dodgy thumb just wasn't up to it. MRI on Wednesday so I'll finally find out what I've done to it. Huge effort by Damon to hold it for 4 mins!

Sled drag was cool. Really heavy but a great balls out event.

Keg stair climb was dissapointing. The keg's just not heavy enough and it's more awkward than hard to get it up the stairs. In reality you can just pick it up and run up the stairs. Not really what I'd planned.

Farmers walks weren't bad but probably too easy. It's supposed to be a walk and a struggle, but we ran the course! Need to go heavier.

Overall a good session and a bit of a play and some fun. Will post some pics as soon as Stef sends me some. My back has pulled up sore again. Getting really frustrating. More heat pack and mobilisation. Rest day Sunday and then into it again on Monday.

Train Hard!!

A lot of fun and effort on Saturday.

Had some ideas to change the session for the challenge in June:

I thought we could do a rack pull for max weight, replacing the keg up the stairs exercise.

The other change could be to have two weight classes for the farmer walks and go for max rounds of the figure 8 course.

If you start getting some good turn outs for these events it would be great to use them as a charity events to raise money for worthy causes.

Looking forward to the session, I hope for a good turn out.
